Aldar grew up like every local elf. His childhood was simple, his education broad. Aldar was always fond of the local humans and especially drawn to the local clergy. At his 90th birthday, Aldar started feeling worse than he ever had in his life. He went to the Elven clergy for help, but they were a bit stand offish, not wanting to bother with the trifle pains of a young boy. He then approached the local human clergy, who worshipped Pelor. The humans were much more receptive, always striving to help those in need. Together, with them, Aldar sought out the reason for his pains. The young Elf did research through many old tomes while the clergy looked for an answer through divinations. They spent many years together searching for an answer.
When it arrived, the news was grave. Without divine inspiration, Aldar would likely whither and die by the age of 100. His end would come no matter what, it was only when that was in question. By this time, Aldar had grown quite a bond with the clergy. He had also grown older than his years, tired by the endless search and the bad news.
It was at this point that a final divination led Aldar on his life’s quest. The only hope for him was to take up the ideas of the church and fight for its’ beliefs. Aldar realized his destiny was to become a paladin. Looking back on the previous divinations, he realized that Pelor was hinting at this all along, but like any god, he left it up to Aldar to choose his own life’s path.
