Orander Greymere

Orander Greymere, Human Wizard. His snobby attitude and trigger happy tendancies have made him an entertaining asset to the S-Team. Notably, he is also the only full arcane spellcaster in a group that was originally comprised almost entirely of them.

Orander's Ioun Stone

Limitations/Weaknesses: Orander is extremely Vain, to the point that it hampers his interations with others. He is confident, almost to fault, and truly thinks he is perfect. He can tolerate others and their wishes, but deep inside (and often not deep inside) he is the picture of an elitest and others are wrong.
Transportation: Orander has a fine Warhorse named Callor, a massive chestnut colored animal. He also has a hawk familiar named Nagatok (for obvious reasons, Nagatok does not go dungeon delving)

Background:
Orander's family used to be one of the controling houses of Devarnish and the surrounding country in the Fuedal sense. They were land owners and nobles, wealthy and powerful. When the Religious uprising took power from the King and set up the new government, the Greymere family was allowed to keep one estate (one of many they had owned). Orander was raised with the ideas that they had been "robbed" of their rightful lands by the government, and it was only a matter of time until they would recieve their due.

When Orander was 15, his father fell ill and passed away. Orander took his father to be resurrected, but the church would not do it unless Orander converted or tithed his land to the church (his father had died of natural causes, and according to the church, it was his "time"). This enraged Orander, and he swore to find a way to break free of the yoke that the gods had put on the races. He viewed that the gods taught that we were made in their image, but Orander saw too much human-like traits in the gods for them to be anything else. Combined with the accention of the Demi-god Iuz, Orander reasoned that the Gods were probably once common men who had acquired tremendous power, and now played games with the lives of the mortal races. He views us as Slaves to a powerful lord who is really no better than us. He reasoned that if the gods were truly as omnipotent as they pretend, their servants would live in harmony, peace, and eternal happiness always, not just in the afterlife. The job of a just ruler is to make his servants as happy as he can, not to let them live in strife and pain.

He decided that the first way for Mankind to accend past the godhead was to conquer death, the god's ultimate weapon against man. Although Priests could revive the dead, he wanted to do it by himself, without outside influence. He decided to study Necromancy. He spent 5 years apprenticing to a Necromancer named Marten, but they had a "falling out". Orander was being pushed by Marten to a life of evil, and Orander would not have it. He wanted to study healing, not death. He escaped from Marten's laboratory and made his way back to Devarnish.

After a few little side trips, he arrived home and heard that his one time drinking companion and favorite bard had been killed. Though to late to avenge the death, he teamed up with the group of adventurers that had. At this point, he wants to set up his own lab to continue his studies, but it is tremendously expensive to do so. He also realizes that the great powers of life and death will not be discovered in a lab, but in the real world. For this reason, he has cast his lot with the S-Team.

Roleplaying Specifics:
Orander is cocky, confident, and "better" than those around him. He was raised to look at and treat the non-nobility as servants. He was trained in the classical elements of the Nobility (sword and horse, heraldry and ettiquette), but realizes his own strength is not in his sword arm. (though he's no slouch). He is power-hungry, but not obsessive. It should also be noted, that he was taught from a very young age that rules and order are the principles that make Nobility the rightful rulers of the populace. He obeys the laws of the land as strictly as a ruler should. However, he also believes that the current government doesn't use the correct laws. His quest for knowledge has made him oblivious to "right" and "wrong". This is reflected in his attitude towards others. In his eye, there are equals, servants, and enemies. That is all that exists. He has open distain for the gods and their servants (which he views as slaves, worse than servants).
